Centro Italiano Ricerche Aerospaziali - CIRA

The Italian Aerospace Research Centre (CIRA) was founded in 1984 as a not-for-profit company, controlled by government institutions and all the major Italian aeronautics and space industries. CIRA is located in a 170-hectars wide area in the proximity of the city of Capua, in the province of Caserta, north of Naples.
CIRA has been charged by the Government to pursue the National Aerospace Research Programme (PRO.R.A.). As a result, CIRA aims at the scientific, technological and economical evolution in the Aerospace field in accordance with the national plans. This commitment is achieved integrating the development and management of advanced facilities with the use of testing and qualification facilities, and research activities in collaboration with European and International research and industrial groups. CIRA has a staff of 370 employees, 70% of which are researchers and technicians.

Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. - DLR

DLR is the national aeronautics and space research centre of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its extensive research and development work in aeronautics, space, energy, transport and security is integrated into national and international cooperative ventures. In addition to its own research, as Germany’s space agency, DLR has been given responsibility by the federal government for the planning and implementation of the German space programme.
DLR’s mission comprises the exploration of Earth and the Solar System and research for protecting the environment. This includes the development of environment-friendly technologies for energy supply and future mobility, as well as for communications and security. DLR’s research portfolio ranges from fundamental research to the development of products for tomorrow. In this way, DLR contributes the scientific and technical expertise that it has acquired to the enhancement of Germany as a location for industry and technology. DLR has approximately 8000 employees in 33 institutes and facilities at 20 locations in Germany.
Two institutes of DLR are participating in the EFESTO project. First, the Institute of Aerodynamics and Flow Technology with its Supersonic and Hypersonic Technologies Department (AS-HYP) located in Cologne, and second, the Institute of Space Systems in Bremen with its Space Launcher System Analysis Department (RY-SRT).
